Chevrolet announced an official date for the mid-engined Corvette and now they’ve got one running around New York.
In stark contrast to the semi-secrecy Chevrolet shrouded the mid-engined C8 Corvette, it looks like now they’ve got an official reveal date and are literally going to town advertising it. In a PR stunt we’ll probably see repeated in major cities around the United States, earlier today (Apr. 11, 2019) car photog Justin Chavez car spotted Chevrolet’s mid-engined C8 Corvette running around Downtown New York with full camo. And just to make sure that the cat’s out of the bag, they’ve got the reveal date decaled on both sides. Check out the “spy shots” for the mid-engined Corvette’s unofficial coming out party below.
Keen eyes will notice that, if you scroll to the last photo, they’ve even rolled down the window to let passerby’s get a good look at the interior, no special tints needed.
in a couple of photos of this prototype running around New York like the one in this Car and Driver take, there’s even have a passenger clearly enjoying themselves, riding shotgun. How lucky!
As mentioned, earlier today, Chevrolet dropped a bombshell an announcement right on Chevrolet.com.
The Next Generation Corvette is the most anticipated Corvette ever. It’s the sum of each generation before it, but will stand alone as the new standard of performance. Sign up to receive updates straight from the source and be the first to know about the Next Gen Corvette.
The base model C8 will probably début in July with, as expected, multiple traditional variants to follow including Z06 and ZR1. Pricing for the base model is expected to be around $62,000 which, in the grand scheme of mid-engined supercars, is a downright bargain. Then again, Corvette has always been known as the budget supercar killer.
Do you think this mid-engined Corvette will live up to the hype? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
