For some builds entered into San Jose’s Wekfest car show, the hardest part of the show isn’t the judging but trying to clear a small bump in the driveway on their way out.

I’ve been to Wekfest a few times but never stuck around for the rollout, arguably one of the more exciting parts of the show and the best part is it’s free. That’s why I drove up to San Jose to witness the rollout and the battle a handful of these cars have making it over a teeny-tiny decline in the driveway as they exit.

I took my trusty Nikon, charged my batteries, and well…here’s the scrape compilation video I uploaded on YouTube below!

For most of these cars entered into Wekfest, in order to get into fighting form, if they’re not running some type of air suspension or trailering their show cars in, they’ve got to get a suspension set up to turn heads and win awards. That means maximum slammage, zero gaps between fenders and tires, and little to no suspension travel.

While that makes a car look good parked, driving is a different issue altogether. With virtually no approach angle, even the slightest bump or angle change in the road can wreak havoc on your build.

Usually, that means broken lips, ripped off bumpers, and in the worst case scenarios, broken aero pieces.

What makes this decline deceptive is that it’s so gradual and sudden most Wekfest cars and their drivers don’t expect it until it’s too late.

Scraaaaaape.

Some cars are smart enough to remember this slight decline and have air suspension of some kind ready and waiting. The best builds, in my opinion, have an air cup suspension. When you think they’re going to scrape, a press of a button raises their car up a couple of inches. Tricky, tricky.

Sure, no one wants to see someone scrape their car but a handful of people surely do. That’s why they line the sidewalks so close to the exit.

I’ve also uploaded most of the rollout, a full 50+ minute compilation as well.

If you didn’t see the show or just want to watch the rollout at the end, well, here you go.
