Runners-up include a kayak, dog kennel, and more than one rolling cooler

One teen in Chaffee, Missouri went above and beyond during Chaffee Junior/Senior High’s Spirit Week. When “Anything but a backpack” day rolled around, this teen decided an automatic transmission would work just fine to hold his all his pens and notebooks.

Check out a gallery of honorable mentions, including our deadset legend below.

These two guys arguably won the day, lugging an entire two-person kayak through the halls. Out of water, it’s useless, but perfect to ham it up during “anything but a backpack” day.

A shopping cart is a logical choice, but Walmart theft prevention might want to have a word with this guy ASAP.

More than a few brought rolling coolers. Throw in some ice, and it doubles as a spacious lunch container.

Here are those dudes with the kayak again. Navigating corners is the biggest challenge.

Creativity points for Mr. Toaster Oven over here. I hope he brought some slices of bread to toast between periods.

Dog Kennel, practical given lots of space and easy to see through. Hope Buddy wasn’t scheduled to go to the vet that day.

Here we have a grass seed spreader. Big enough for your books and highly maneuverable, a solid choice that day.

And, here’s our hero. Most in the comments smartly commented there’s no way that’s a whole automatic transmission and is, instead, just the housing. It also looks like a GM 4L60. Others in the comments beg to differ, positing it might be a C6 Ford Transmission instead.

If it was a complete transmission, he would’ve been lugging around upwards of 130 pounds, not to mention no space for books and pens.

Clearly a housing.

It’s worth pointing out the teacher, clearly impressed at this teen’s creativity.

“Well, I’ll be” he’s probably thinking. “He brought an entire transmission, didn’t he.”

Smiling ear to ear, he’s proud of his choice of backpack.

Did your High school have an “Anything but a backpack day?” What did you bring? Let me know in the comments below.
