By the looks of the other truck’s condition, this was probably not their first red light rodeo.

Presumed Montgomery County, TX resident and Redditor /u/Doppleganger1064 posted up dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the heart pumping moment a driver making a left turn, despite his light being red for several seconds, almost collided with OP.

Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below.

[OC]: Some Drivers Think They Own The First Few Seconds Of A Red Light

This particular incident happened at the intersection of TX-105 and Loop 336 in Conroe, TX (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he enters the intersection after waiting a beat for the first red light runner to keep going.

“Of the last 3 vehicles through the light, the 1st took a stale yellow and the last 2, a Jeep and an (Chevrolet) Avalanche (banged up with whiskey dents), just stole the first couple of seconds of my green light.”

I counted a good two Mississippis between when OP’s light turned green and when that Chevrolet Avalanche entered the intersection, following a small train of red light runners.

Many in the comments suggested that OP was the one in the wrong, as they entered an intersection that was not clear.

/u/sl0play pointed screenshot two instances in the video (embedded below) where that’s not exactly the case.

“When I edited this down I lost the audio so the cars to my left can’t be heard honking before I did. The driver of the Avalanche looked at me like “waa-I-do?””

Most Redditors applauded OP on their gutsy move but recognized that this was sort of a risky maneuver.

“Yes, stop making things easy for people like the one in the truck. Let it be their problem, they are stuck in the intersection. People know others will stop or let them have their way if they are aggressive and will continue with the do*c**baggery,” /u/OK_Commission9026 commented.

“This is risky, but you served justice to a bully,” /u/Uncle_Saucebags replied.

“When I see that happening, and I have the good fortune to be first at the light, I pull forward into the intersection and stop, still far enough back to where they can’t hit me, and just lay on the horn as they pass through. I want them to know they’re a d*** for holding me back from going on a green,” /u/June_2002 added.

Red light runners are a massive problem for all drivers.

I tip my hat to OP for taking a calculated risk and serving up some instant justice, although, judging by the other driver’s bewildered look, I seriously doubt they learned anything by their near collision.
