You’re only supposed to drive in a center left turn lane up to 300 feet, this UPS driver went nearly 1900 feet.
Presumed Florida resident and Redditor /u/UnidentifiedTom submitted dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the shocking moment a FedEx driver in Orlando decided to or unknowingly used a center left turn lane, commonly known as a suicide lane, as a regular lane for over 1/3 mile.
Check out the shocking dashcam footage for yourself below.

The incident took place between the 900 and 1300 blocks of S. Orange Ave in Orlando, FL (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As you can see in OP’s dashcam footage, he’s in the 1300 block of S. Orange Ave.
A FedEx truck can be seen in the left turn lane but, instead of turning left, continues going straight.
That FedEx driver is now driving in what’s called a center left turn lane (suicide lane.)
You’re only supposed to use these lanes to merge into traffic or, as the name suggests, turn left.
According to Schmoop and the Citrus County Chronicle, it varies depending on which county you’re in, but your’re really only allowed to drive between 200-300 feet within that lane for the sole purpose of slowing down before your turn and turning.
We see the FedEx driver using that CLTL for over 1/3 mile before the FedEx driver pulls into a 7-11.
Here’s a birds-eye view of how long they drove in that lane.
“Happened to catch this and couldn’t believe this idiot. Hopefully it’s their last day on the job,” OP captioned the video.
Thankfully, no other driver was in or tried to use that center left turn lane while the FedEx driver was barrelling through.
Needless to say, it could’ve ended up a lot worse.
“Fed Ex drivers, are about the worse kind of truck driver. Then add in their delivery issues, it’s a wonder they still in business,” /u/RLBeau1964 commented.
“Haha you hope it’s their last day. That’s hilarious and not how FedEx works,” /u/Boredum_Allergy sarcastically, but truthfully pointed out.
“Nah. He just got into the left turn lane really really… really really really early,” /u/SomethingIWontRegret jokingly commented.
I couldn’t find a specific fine attached to using a center left turn lane like this, but it’s arguably a moving violation in Florida, subject to a fine, fees, and points.
This is why driving defensively is important, you never know when some crazy and clueless delivery driver might be coming up next to you in a lane you don’t expect to see them.
Your vehicle vs. a 23,000 pound FedEx truck, the physics aren’t in your favor.
