Not paying attention or blatant disregard for the rules of the road?

Presumed Texas resident and Redditor /u/Valdor99 shared a proper butt clencher of a dashcam video to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from Victoria, TX showing the shocking moment a driver in an A&E Services Van blew through a red light while he was turning left, coming within inches of hitting OP.

Check out the hair-raising dashcam video for yourself below.

Oncoming van runs intersection while I have a turn arrow [oc]

The incident happened at the intersection of N Main St. and W Airline Rd in Victoria, TX (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s video and the Google Maps shot will show you, OP was about to turn onto W Airline Road from N Main St.

It’s a T-intersection and the light configuration is a tad unorthodox, but the two lanes to the right of OP have a green light and OP’s turning lane has a protected green arrow, too.

Protected means opposing traffic to the left and coming towards left turners have a solid red.

All of a sudden, a driver in an A&E Services Van doesn’t appear to slow and blasts through the red light at speed.

The shocking part is just how close the van got to crashing head on into OP.

It can’t get any closer.

Although it’s hard to make out the plates, the ID on the door is quite legible.

A&E Services ID on the side of the driver’s door: TACLBO0118036E

“Van drivers! That sucker not only ran the light, he didn’t even flinch and adjust path to miss your corner. That seemed damn close to clipping you,” /u/RLBeau1964 commented.

“That dude was straight on his phone,” /u/punched-in-face added.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is a great example of defensive driving and situational awareness,” /u/SQLDave pointed out.

Before you comment, yes, OP is in the process of reporting this driver to A&E Services.

And if OP forgets for some reason, there are plenty of Redditors who commented saying they’ve got OP covered.

“I emailed them the dashcam footage and the van ID. AEServices@AEfactoryservice.com if you want to as well,” zzgoogleplexzz replied.

Like /u/SQLDave pointed out, this is a great example of how defensive driving can save your a**.

If OP wasn’t fully paying attention, this could’ve ended up a lot worse.
