The driver in the Acura then yelled at the honker to “Pull over” so they could fit.
Presumed Coloradian and Redditor /u/UnWantedCritic posted up expletive charged dashcam footage from Loveland, CO to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the moment a dog-distracted driver at an intersection exacted his revenge on OP by flipping him off, brake checking him, and then challenging OP to a fight.
Yeah, this is all for real.
Check out the video below.
[OC] Road rage caused by a little *beep* at a green light. Sorry about my language lol
byu/unwantedcritic inIdiotsInCars
The incident kicked off at the intersection of N Garfield Ave. and 57th St. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s video shows, he rolls up to the intersection with a red light.
A second later, it turns green.
OP does the polite thing and waits three seconds for the driver in a black Acura TL to go, but, as this close-up shows, he’s distracted by his dog.
After a decent honk, the driver in the TL starts to go but immediately throws up his hands, brakes, and looks back at the OP like, “What the f***?”
He then brake checks him really hard, again.
“Go, you f***ing…What are you f***ing doing, you f***ing pr***?,” OP yells out in frustration.
“You piece of ***!”
The Acura changes lanes to make a left turn, and OP eventually passes him.
That’s not all because apparently the Acura driver sped back up to challenge him to a fight.
“The Acura then sped up to me and yelled at me to “pull over” I guess so he could fight me ????”
“Weird how so many people think tapping the horn is like, some horribly offensive, ego-bruising action. People like the dude in the clip act as if OP insulted their mother or used a racial slur or whatever. “Hey man, just FYI the lights green, we should be moving.” “OH YEAH WELL F*** YOU HOW ABOUT THAT”,/u/IgniteTheReverie commented.
“I’ve been flipped off for giving a short beep at a green light that turns red really fast. The level of immaturity of some drivers is astounding. I just give them a thumbs down and shake my head in disappointment,” /u/Kev50027 replied.
“I’ll say this beep was warranted. Dude was clearly looking at his dog, and the fact that both cars started moving at the beep indicates that A) Neither driver was paying attention or B) They both saw something OP didn’t, and waited. I’m going with A,” /u/HotLittlePotato added.
While we don’t like getting honked at, in this and a lot of other cases, a honk is deserved.
As OP mentioned in another comment, driving is serious business, one of the most dangerous activities we do every day.
Sure, we can get upset at getting called out like that, but to flip it around and exact revenge with road rage is unacceptable.
We should be paying attention, 100% behind the wheel.
But, we’re not perfect.
If we’re honked at, and rightfully so, swallow your pride, maybe give a friendly wave, and drive on.
