Thankfully, the driver got the hint and continued.

Floridian and Redditor /u/UnindentifiedTom shared dashcam footage of her commute from earlier last week (June 19, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the truly harebrained moment a driver stopped in I-4 traffic on the Florida Turnpike because she didn’t want to miss her exit.

Check out the dashcam video for yourself below.

Idiot stops traffic on highway interchange so she doesn’t miss her exit. *headphone warning*[oc]

As mentioned, the incident happened on the I-4 Florida Turnpike as traffic from I-4 East and West merge (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As /u/UnindentifedTom’s dashcam video shows, she’s driving in Lane #1.

Drivers must commit to Lanes #1 and #2 to head South towards Miami or Lane #3 to go North towards Ocala.

Up ahead there’s a driver in a Red Nissan Rogue who, according to OP, has been driving way too slow for the conditions, presumably trying to read the signs as they pass above her.

“She was driving at a snail’s pace getting to this ramp…you hear me talking s*** to myself. She drove slow enough to read all the signs five times…”

The driver in the Rogue “still f***ed up” as she missed her opportunity to change lanes to take the North exit.

Instead of doing the right thing, continuing, and re-routing, she does the absolute worst thing you can do in this situation and stops, signaling to attempt to make it across to her exit.

As this is a busy interchange and “people usually take this interchange at 50 MPH,” the chances of her sneaking past through a sizeable break in traffic were slim.

A driver in a Toyota Tundra behind OP caught up in the mess is having none of this nonsense and elects to drive onto the center median to bypass the Rogue driver.

A driver in a Tundra hops the center median to bypass this bad driver.

“I was contemplating pulling out to help block traffic for her, but came to my senses that I would’ve f***ed up the entire interchange more and either get hit for her or someone else gets hit because of me. The average speed on this interchange is 50mph, so this whole thing was f***ed and someone was bound to get hit if she didn’t start moving.”

If you’re wondering, the Rogue driver can exit and re-route back towards Ocala taking an exit 4 miles ahead (map showing that linked here.)

Eventually, the Rogue driver does the right thing and continues, but not before almost causing one bad collision(s.)

“I’m with Truck Guy. I don’t want someone f***ing rear-ending me at 65mph,” /u/joecool42069 commented.

“Unbelievable. How many people could get hurt or die because of her? Just wow,” /u/ianao added.

“Good drivers sometimes miss their exits. Bad drivers never do,” /u/captain_flak replied.

Stopping like this on a Florida highway is bound to be a moving violation subject to a base fine and possibly points on your record.

If you’re going to miss your exit, miss it and re-route.

What this driver does is not only wrong but potentially dangerous.

Thankfully, no one was hurt or got into an accident.
