A reckless driver on LA-70 put three other drivers’ lives on the line, his included, with a risky, high-speed overtaking maneuver.
Louisianian and Redditor /u/Partyhatz33 shared heart-stopping dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from Pierra Part, La from earlier last year at the tail end of December showing a driver on LA-70 dangerously overtaking without regard to oncoming traffic.
Check out his dashcam footage from his 2024 Toyota Tundra below.

The incident happened in Pierre Part about halfway through Louisiana State Highway 70 on the portion that runs next to Lake Vernet and the Avoca Island Cutoff (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam footage shows, he’s driving along LA-70 when a driver in a dark-colored sedan zooms past him and a white Chevrolet Suburban/Escalade in a risky, two-car overtake.
The speed limit is 50 MPH here with OP already travelling at arou
It’s worth noting there’s a dashed line separating opposing traffic so it’s technically legal to overtake.
With a car fast approaching in the opposite direction, the sedan had enough room to overtake OP but, with a two-vehicle overtake, he set himself up for a head-on collision.
It almost came to that as, at the last second, both the driver coming towards the overtake and the driver in the Suburban steered towards the side of the road, giving the overtaker enough room to squeeze between them.
If either car had not moved, a collision was imminent.
“A damn good thing that Escalade[?] was paying attention behind him,” /u/SourChipmunk commented.
“Oh my god. They could’ve killed someone!! Good on that other car for reacting the right way and not swerving to their left, but holy fuck that could have ended horribly,” /u/FartHead1027 added.
“It must be nice thinking the entire world will accommodate you until it doesn’t. That driver is a living Darwin Award winner. When they collect their prize, I hope they don’t take any innocent bystanders,” /u/wcoastbo replied.
What he did was arguably reckless driving.
