This man enjoyed his 30+ year old 1990 Ford F-150 until it was totaled by an imbecile making a right turn from the wrong lane.
Buckeye and Redditor /u/Skawager shared infuriating dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from earlier this September from Marion, OH showing a driver making a right turn from the wrong lane, effectively totaling /u/Skawager’s 1990 Ford F-150 as a result.
Check out his dashcam footage below.
Idiot totals my truck by turning right from left lane [oc]

The incident happened in the 600 block of Delaware Ave (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving along Delaware Ave, following a silver Chrysler 300.
The 300 only accelerates up to 19 MPH (it’s a 35 MPH speed limit on that stretch of road.)
Opting to presumably go around the 300, OP aggressively changes lanes to pass.
Suddenly, the driver in the 300 almost slows to a stop, signals, and turns right, from the left lane, towards the Marathon Gas station.
With no time to slow and swerve out of the way, OP T-bones the front fender of the 300, causing significant damage to his truck.
As we later learn, his insurance totaled his ride.
“30+ year old truck, insurance didn’t feel like dealing with it. Gave me $7,000 cash minus the 500 I used to buy the truck back. So, I’m not complaining that much, just been a drag to deal with,” OP clarified in a comment.
“I do not understand why people have started doing this. It seems to happen more and more. There used to be a thing–a great thing!– where you go into the proper lane first and then turn. What happened?” /u/ragby commented.
“Personally, I never pass people that close for exactly this reason. You probably could have easily avoided this yourself if you were paying a bit of attention or practicing defensive driving,” /u/Greenzoid2 pointed out.
While it’s 100 percent the other driver’s fault and hindsight is 20/20, /u/Greenzoid2 does have a point.
Nowadays, you have to assume other drivers will do the dumbest thing possible and the best thing you can do for yourself is set yourself up for defensive driving success.
In this case, it meant giving an incompetent driver a bit more space to do whatever they were going to do.
