A red light runner on 7 Mile may have been trying to evade police. Their loud car and blatant red light running didn’t help.

Presumed Detroit resident and Redditor /u/olobley shared a moment of instant karma from earlier in October on 7 Mile to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver blatantly run a red light a good 20 seconds after their light turned red right in front of a cop following close behind.

Check out his dashcam footage below.

[oc] If you’re going to run a red, perhaps not in a vehicle that makes that much noise…

The incident occurred at the intersection of W Seven Mile Rd and Roselawn St. in Detroit (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As his dashcam footage shows, he’s stopped at the abovementioned intersection.

Nearly 20 seconds after his right of way turned red, a driver in a Chevrolet Impala with either a hole in their exhaust or missing catalytic converters shoots through the intersection.

Their brash move didn’t go unnoticed as a Detroit police officer following closely behind in their pursuit vehicle witnesses the blatant red light running.

Seconds later Detroit PD throws on their blues and tunes and gives chase.

“Hahaha. Good. Excellent,” OP exclaims.

It looks like the Impala driver hits their brakes before reaching the next intersection so, perhaps he’s realized he’s been had and prepared to pull over.

“Dang, that cop got there quick!,” /u/Perfect_Toe7670 commented.

“Wow it’s like they were already running from the cops lol,” /u/FewAcanthocephala828 added.

The reason why he was being followed aside, running a red light in Detroit is subject to a base fine of $130 before fees.
