This impatient driver in a pickup truck didn’t think anyone was watching him blow a red light, except he did it in front of a pair of motorcycle cops.
New Jerseyan and Redditor /u/Tkjjslthhkykscyiss9 shared dashcam footage from Hoboken from earlier last week (Dec 3, 2024) showing an impatient driver in a Chevrolet Silverado blow a red light across a couple of left and right-on-red turners.
Unbeknownst to him, a pair of cops on motorcycle cops saw it all play out.
Check out the dashcam video below with /u/Tkjjslthhkykscyiss9’s Reddit thread linked here.
As mentioned, the incident happened at the intersection of Grove and Newark St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As /u/Tkjjslthhkykscyiss9’s dashcam footage shows, he’s stopped at the aforementioned intersection behind a pair of motorcycle cops.
Up ahead, while left and right-on red turners have the right of way, everyone, especially the cops, can see a driver in a white Chevrolet Silverado creep across the limit line
Even against a red light and in the middle of turners, the driver in the Silverado books it across, the turned helmet of one of the cops showing he saw it all play out.
The motorcycle cop immediately puts on his reds and blues, flips a u, and chases down the red light runner.
In New Jersey, running a red light is subject to a maximum $200 fine before fees and two points on your record.
If you don’t know why running red lights is a bad and illegal thing to do, please, do everyone else a favor and don’t drive until you find out why, preferably from a public servant like a police officer.
In this situation, turners not paying attention could’ve easily t-boned the impatient driver, not to mention causing an accident that might’ve caused an injury, or worse.
Thankfully, the drivers with a sane head on their shoulders were paying attention.
