A driver in a 4Runner exiting this Santa Ana tried to brute force their way back onto Main St only to hit a driver in a van with the right of way.

Orange County resident and Redditor /u/nice__username shared headshaking dashcam footage from the drive-thru of this Santa Ana Jack in the Box from earlier last week (Dec 2, 2024) showing a driver exiting in a Toyota 4Runner trying to force their way back onto Main St. in front of a driver in an “already paid for” Ram Van with the right of way refusing to yield.

Due to both drivers’ impatience, the driver of the 4Runner drove forward, as did the driver of the Ram Van, resulting in a minor collision.

Check out the dashcam footage watching it all play out below.

The incident took place at this Jack in the Box drive-thru as the driver in the 4Runner attempted to exit back onto the 600 Block of Main St in front of the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Ana (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, the driver in the 4Runner is trying to exit this drive-thru.

Regardless, drivers exiting driveways aren’t a part of traffic and must yield to traffic already on the road.

While it’s courteous to let drivers in, this driver in a white Ram Van from the ’80s is adamant about not letting the driver in the 4Runner merge back in.

The driver in the 4Runner forces their way back so much so that a driver in a Toyota Sienna in front of the Ram Van thinks they got hit/tapped.

The Sienna driver exits his van to inspect the damage, but there is none.

The driver in the White Toyota Sienna exits his van to check what damage the driver in the 4Runner might have caused.

Finally, when traffic starts moving on Main St., the driver of the 4Runner and Ram Van leaps forward in an attempt to merge and block the other driver.

Both get into a low-speed collision, the front of the Ram Van crunching into the fender of the 4Runner.

The Ram Van, with its steel bumper, likely didn’t suffer much damage, at all.

The same can’t be said for the 4Runner which, if repaired properly, will cost thousands to get 100 percent right.

“So much dumb in one clip,” /u/NamiaKnows commented.

“That dent on the rear hatch makes a lot of sense,” /u/bojangular69 pointed out.

“I mean that van is indestructible, has been on the road for 40 years, and is probably driven by a dude who gives less than two shits. Once you realize he isn’t letting you in you just gotta wait a minute,” /u/2bags12kuai added.

As to how insurance might dole out fault, while the large majority is technically on the 4Runner, I wouldn’t be surprised if the driver in the Ram Van doesn’t get out 100 percent scot-free as they still have a duty to avoid a collision when possible.
