A left-turner with the right of way came within feet of almost getting T-boned by a red light runner.

Texas commuter and Redditor /u/Ratata_hoe shared headshaking dashcam footage from Richardson from the end of January (Jan 31, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a left turner at Centennial and Whitehall coming within feet of getting T-boned by a red light runner.

Check out OP’s dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Centennial Blvd. and Whitehall Dr. in Richardson, TX (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s stopped at the aforementioned intersection when their light turns green giving him and the driver in front of him the right of way.

Like any cautious driver, the driver in the Honda Accord in front of OP waits a beat before accelerating forward.

Suddenly, a good five seconds after their light turned green, a driver in a white Chevrolet Cruze can be seen running a red light and coming within feet of T-boning the Accord driver.

Thankfully, the Accord misses the Cruze.

If he’d left half a second later, this unfortunately would’ve ended differently.

Thankfully, the Accord driver was paying attention and is able to slam on their brakes.

“That is scary! They were haulin’!!,” /u/IndependentBad6569 commented.

“Didn’t seem to be phased almost hitting two cars,” OP replied.

“I noticed the memorial cross to the left at the beginning of the video,” /u/kamikazexero pointed out.

“I actually noticed the location in the video…I used to live a few blocks away off of Abrams!”

Red light runners in Dallas are subject to a base fine of $192 and two points on your driving record.
