A driver exiting this gore zone didn’t do their due diligence by looking, with their eyes, for approaching traffic before they merged into off-ramp lane.

Orlando-area driver and Redditor /u/TheRainbowNoob shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in March (Mar 1, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver merging onto this 417 off-ramp from a gore point without looking, almost causing a disastrous crash.

Check out the dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on the Central Florida Greeneway at Exit 26 towards East/West 528 & International Airport Cocoa (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is headed southbound on the 417 onto Exit 26 towards the 528.

Up ahead, the brake lights of a driver stopped in a gore point, a striped off area not meant for driving on, are visible.

Less than 100 feet from the stopped driver, their brake lights go off, indicating they’re rolling forward into the path of travel of OP.

OP does their best to swerve out of the way at 70+ MPH and narrowly avoids getting crashed into.

OP described the encounter as almost a “life-altering collision,” and rightfully so at those speeds.

Thankfully, he avoided any collision whatsoever and escaped the encounter unscathed.

“Noticed this car in the gore and thought I was seeing the gold reflector on the median instead of a right-turn signal. Not sure why they needed to turn perpendicular to the off-ramp, or why they didn’t keep the turn signal on, or why……… anything, really. Just glad nothing happened,” OP clarified.

I hate when people refuse to miss their exit and do s*** like this. But what makes it so much worse for me is that this guy seemingly had a mile to go, and only did so once OP got close,” one of the top comments from /u/HadalAvoider added.

In Florida, improperly merging or failing to yield while exiting into traffic — like pulling out from a gore area without looking — would be treated as a moving violation, typically resulting in a fine (often up to a few hundred dollars) and 3 points on your driving record for failing to yield or improper lane change if convicted. (legalclarity.org) Accumulating 12 points within 12 months can trigger a 30‑day license suspension under Florida’s point system. (flhsmv.gov)
