This irresponsible Lime Scooter rider made no indication of looking before turning.

Downtown Chicago commuter and Redditor /u/ten_thousand_puppies shared downright headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this week (Mar 17, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a clueless scooter rider almost caused his own serious injury after making a no-look turn from the bike lane.

As mentioned, the incident happened along the 2000 block of N Milwaukee Ave just before the Dollar Tree (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As his dashcam footage shows, he’s driving along N Milwaukee Ave.

To his right are a handful of scooter riders, one on a white and green Lime scooter.

As he approaches the intersection with W St Georges Ct, a scooter rider on the Lime Green Scooter can be seen jumping off the bike lane and making a left towards Washtenaw Ave.

OP slams on his brakes and literally comes within millimeters of slamming into the scooter rider.

“Watch where you’re going,” OP screams out his window after honking his horn.

The scooter rider continues on their way, oblivious to how close they came to becoming seriously injured.

“Can’t believe he didn’t bite it after the near miss. Impressive recovery” is the top comment from /u/jtf2013.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen someone include the part where the cammer yells at the idiot at the end. Thank you,” /u/According-Rub-8164 added.

“It’s crazy how anyone can forget to look both ways before crossing a street after it’s been drilled into your head for 15+ years as a kid,” /u/oO0Kat0Oo replied.

There appears to be no specific fines for unsafe lane changes and careless scooter operation but if this was done in a car, it’d definitely be a citable offense.
