This idiot cannot read road markings and crossed double yellow lines into opposing traffic.

Santa Ana area commuter and Redditor /u/rookieookieookie shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (June 30, 2025) showing a massive idiot driving into oncoming traffic, treating a lane meant for opposing traffic as a left turn lane.

Check out their bonehead move in the dashcam video below, with the original Reddit thread linked here.

[OC] Left lane isn’t always for passing
byu/rookieookieookie inIdiotsInCars

The incident happened at the intersection of Pullman and Dyer (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving on Pullman St towards the intersection with Dyer.

In front of him is a driver in a beige Toyota Sienna who, with a broken lane divider line to his left, thinks there’s an extra turn lane on the other side of the line.

Such is not the case as opposing traffic on Pullman has their own two lanes.

At this point, the driver in the Sienna is driving against traffic.

A lot of people in the comments gave OP a hard time for driving through those striped zones, but OP contends he was trying to give the idiot as much space as possible to self-correct.

“I tried giving them a lot of space so they could get back into the lane, then moved over to warn them with my horn before having to get back to my turning lane. I, of course, made sure nobody was behind before all this, but I still shouldn’t have gotten so caught up with the van.”

No opposing traffic meets the idiot driver, yet.

Traffic on Dyer making a right onto Pullman and headed the other way soon began to meet the idiot driver in their way.

Thankfully, they’re paying attention and dodge the Sienna.

Finally, with OP and traffic going his direction given a green light and the right of way, the Sienna driver slots in the correct lane and completes his turn.

The idiocy and recklessness don’t stop their as OP confirmed that, immediately after getting into the right lane, they swung into the rightmost lane to make their exit onto the 55.

“They actually did, so they wouldn’t miss the on-ramp that’s right after this turn,” OP confirmed, replying to a commenter if they swung wide.

“Sometimes in life you have to make your own path,” the top comment from /u/Fine-Mulberry9119 reads.

“Came across this yesterday in downtown Chicago. The yellow line was not faded, yet there he is, from Kansa,s on the wrong side of the road. I chuckled and hand signaled him to move,” /u/MidnightHeavy3214 shared.

In California, driving on the wrong side of the road is a misdemeanor with violators subject to a fine of up to $1,000 and/or up to six months in jail.
