This careless driver failed to check his side mirrors while changing lanes and, when honked at, continued on.
Long Island commuter and Redditor /u/Savior_67 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this July (July 3, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a careless driver literally forcing him off the road as the other driver continued to change lanes with OP right beside them.
Check out the dashcam video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on the Meadowbrook State Parkway as OP merged onto MSP from Southern State Parkway (22N)(Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam shows, OP is merging onto the MSP from 22N and attempts to merge with the rest of the traffic.
Immediately to his left is a driver in a dark silver Toyota Tacoma attempting to change into OP’s lane towards Exit M5.
Clearly in his blind spot and despite being honked at, the Tacoma keeps changing lanes, forcing OP off the road and onto the shoulder.
Thankfully, OP maintains control, despite having two wheels off-road, and hops back into the right-most lane safely behind the Tacoma.
“I didn’t notice any damage. If there were any, I guess I would have just sent this to their insurance company and whatever damage I found,” OP replies to a commenter asking about any damage.
The Tacoma driver acts like nothing happened, perhaps because he never even saw or heard OP’s vehicle, and keeps going towards their exit.
The plates are hard to make out, but it looks like CBG 9821 or CBG 9827

“He was committed to that lane change, consequences be damned,” the top comment from /u/DanielBG reads.
“This is why we look over our shoulder before we change lanes,” /u/AmiHad adds.
“The pickup should have seen you coming off the ramp, and they didn’t even react after nearly hitting you. Looks like a case of distracted driving or ego trip,” said /u/wtfozlolzrawrx3
In New York, an unsafe lane change is subject to a fine of up to $150+$93 surcharge before additional fees and 3 points on your record.
