Oblivious driver slips into turn lane from lane headed straight, then ignores lane markings, drifting into the wrong lane.
Pleasant Hill commuter and Redditor /u/Tiberius_Jim shared headshaking dashcam footage from Contra Costa Blvd from earlier last week (July 15, 2025) showing a driver in a Honda Odyssey just completely ignoring the concept of lane markings and brute forcing their way into the right-most lane.

The incident happened at the intersection of Contra Costa Blvd and Concord Ave. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along Contra Costa Blvd.
His spidey senses tingling alerted him to a driver in a Honda Odyssey about to do something that aligns with his subreddit’s namesake.
“What’s weird is I’m not sure what he did that made me think to watch him aside from basic intuition. His speed was pretty low for having a green light, so that must have triggered me to question why he was going so slow,” OP replied to a comment I’ve also quoted below.
As such, he gave the Odyssey a wide berth, at first.
The Odyssey driver, realizing they need to turn right and in a bid to not miss their turn, suddenly darts from a lane headed straight into one of the two turn lanes.
If that wasn’t bad enough, they then proceed to brute force their way into he rightmost turn lane in complete disregard of the lane markings, almost causing a collision with OP.
OP gives a healthy dose of honking, which probably did nothing to correct the driver’s future turning behaviour.
Thankfully, nothing comes of the turn, and both drivers make it out unscathed.

“There’s the benefit of defensive driving. Assume he’s a moron… then when he proves you right, at least it’s not your car that gets messed up,” /u/improperfaction replied.
Disobeying lane markings like this is a violation of Vehicle Code 22101(d) VC
“When official traffic control devices direct that a particular course of movement be made in a particular lane, no driver shall disobey the directions of those devices.”
Violators of this part of the CVC are subject to a fine of about $238, with all the fees and one point added to your record.
