Not paying attention forced this driver into a situation that caused his pickup truck to flip.

Madison commuter and Redditor /u/LoadManagement shared surprising dashcam footage from earlier last week (July 24, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a Ford Ranger, likely not paying attention and following too close to the driver in front of them, not realize everyone’s braking too late, panic braking, and causing them to get into a one-vehicle wreck where their truck flipped.

Check out the dashcam video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on a stretch of I-94 (Veterans Memorial Parkway) just before exit 135C onto High Crossing Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, OP is in Lane #3 of this four-lane interstate.

Cars in the right-most lane begin to slow; however, our driver in a white Ford Ranger, perhaps because they’re not paying attention, almost collides with the vehicle in front of them.

Unfortunately, their panic braking and emergency steering to the left causes them to overcorrect way too much, forcing their truck into a situation where it flips over onto its side.

It doesn’t flip onto its roof but does come to a traffic-stopping, grinding halt.

Rearview shot of the aftermath.

Thankfully, it looks like no other cars were roped in, just the one Ford Ranger.

OP doesn’t mention the driver’s condition afterwards.

The solo crash, while dramatic, definitely looked survivable, so it’s safe to assume they, at worst, escaped with possible injuries.

“I wouldn’t call that brake checked, dude was stopping like the cars in front of him,” the top comment from /u/Sherman40336 referencing OP’s title, saying how it might’ve been an intentional brake check.

I, like many other Redditors in the thread, agree with this conclusion.

“That was close, they almost overreacted there,” /u/Rando1ph humoursly added.

“I know that exit all too well. It backs up EVERY DAY during commuter times, which makes the pickup truck even more of an idiot,” local /u/Danny_ODevin added.

In Wisconsin, distracted driving is taken seriously, with violators subject to a fine of up to $400 after all the fees and four points on their driving record.
