The 20-year-old Acura Integra broke the previous Bring A Trailer Auction Record by over $90,000.

Peter Cunningham, race car driver and owner of RealTime Racing based out of Saukville, WI, is now getting his 2001 Acura Intega Type R, with only 4,800 miles, ready to ship to its new owner after his low-mileage ITR sold today on Bring A Trailer for a record $204,204.

After 8 days on the popular auction site, the Integra Type R shot up to $120,000 within 24 hours before sitting at that, until the last few minutes of the auction, typical for Premium Listings of this kind.

At $120,000, if it sold, it would’ve broken the previous BAT record for the Integra Type R. Another low-mileage example at just 7,000 miles sold in 2022 for $112,000.

A bidding war broke out between two bidders that ratcheted up the bids past $200,000 to where it ultimately landed at $204,204.

Just to show you how crazy that result is, here’s the graph of all the results. Cunningham’s ITR is the outlier at the far right.

197 results of the Intetra Type R’s with auctions on Bring A Trailer thus far.

Often considered the pinnacle of Golden Era Honda and Acura engineering, even regular, more common Integras of this era are already prized and coveted for their driving dynamics, high-revving, race-car-like engines, and tactile, analog controls.

These Type Rs kicked the dynamics of the Integra up a notch with a more powerful, hand-built engine, chassis reinforcements, suspension upgrades, weight reduction measures, and unique interior and exterior features.

Between 1997-2001, a little over 3,800 Integra Type R’s were earmarked and sold in the United States.

There were just 1,173 built for the United States for Model Year 2001.

With just 4,800 miles, this is considered the lowest mileage Integra Type R in existence, if not one of the cleanest.

Although not an official Honda and Acura Racing team, RealTime Racing built its name racing and winning with Acuras and Hondas throughout the late ’80s, ’90s, and into the late 2010s.

As such, there is no better caretaker for such a low-mileage example than the now previous owner, Peter Cunningham.

Three years ago, if you told that person who bought his Integra Type R for $112,000 that that was a steal, he would’ve chuckled.

Knowing what we know today and this result, who knows if today’s astronomical auction result will be considered a bargain given a few years.
