The absolute worst driver made their move with less than 300 feet from the exit.

Los Angeles commuter and Redditor /u/Domonero shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in July (July 21, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing what OP called a Darwin Award Nominee (and rightfully so) cutting across at least 3 lanes of traffic and a gore point, just so they don’t miss their exit.

Check out their bonehead move below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on the 5 at the 153B Exit onto Bradford St. in Los Angeles near Sun Valley and Arleta (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is minding his own business in one of the middle lanes when, right before Exit 153B, a driver in a dark Honda Accord appears, signals, and drives across at least 3 lanes of traffic towards said exit.

If that maneuver wasn’t bad enough, they drive over a gore point, too, lane markings not meant to be driven across.

By some miracle, the driver in the Accord maintains control and “makes it.”

Keen eyes will notice that, as shown on Google Maps and IRL, the next exit is literally less than a mile away.

So, why risk a crash just to not miss their exit?

The next exit is literally less than a mile away.

Who knows? That’s Darwin Award Nominee brain. Also, bad drivers never miss their exit.

“It’s insane he made it. He’s either really good or really lucky,” the top comment from /u/nova9001 reads.

“He seemed to realise it at the last moment and didn’t want to become paste so sped up….,” /u/individual-Mud262 noticed.

“Even losers win sometimes. This time they won another chance to play with their life,” /u/realAtheling aptly puts it.

An unsafe lane change like this in California is a $238 fine and one point on your record.

Driving over a gore point gets you the same, if not a similar, fine and points, too.
