Harrowing dashcam footage shows at least 5 sheets of plywood flying out of this driver’s truck and onto the highway.
Orlando area commuter and Redditor /u/DaSmittyMan shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week, July 26, 2025, to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a careless driver and hardware store shopper losing his entire load of what looks like sheets of plywood all over the Florida Turnpike.
Check out their dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened along FL-91 (the Florida Turnpike) just after the Turkey Lake Travel Plaza (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving in Lane #3 of this multi-lane interstate.
To his upper right is a driver in a silver Ford F-150 with a load of plywood, although we find that out in the worst way possible.
Suddenly, one giant sheet of wood comes flying out of this guy’s truck, followed by another, and another.
All in all, at least five sheets are flying out of his bed towards other drivers.
A Jeep directly diagonal to OP dodges one, successfully, and it looks like other drivers successfully dodged several sheets, too.
The driver, realizing his massive, bonehead mistake, slows down to presumably retrieve them.
“I was expecting the boats on the left side to fly off the truck,” the top comment from /u/ElHoser reads.
“Jeep driver and pickup with the kayaks really be like, “F*** THIS F***ING ***HAT, I’m outta here!”,” /u/svu_fan humorsly added.
“I don’t say this often, but Jeep bro got some reflexes,” /u/AmNotAnAtomicPlayboy pointed out.
Driving with an unsecured load is dangerous and a bad idea for a reasons.
Just look at what happened to this one Civic owner in, unironically, Florida, on the turnpike.
This is what happens when you don’t secure your load properly.

“Driving around with an unsecured load in Florida opens up drivers to fines and community service. “Florida drivers who fail to comply pay a fine of under $500 and perform community service if they’re found at fault for an accident.” (source)
“The current statutes indicate that any person who willfully violates secured cargo regulations and causes serious bodily injury or death will be held liable with a criminal traffic offense and second-degree misdemeanor, which may result in a fine and jail time.” (source)
As someone who’s also seen a load fly towards other cars, and being close to the flying debris, it’s a scary situation to be in.
Don’t be a d***head. Secure your cargo load.
