This semi-truck driver’s quick thinking saved this clueless driver from what would’ve been one devastating crash.

Long-haul trucker and Redditor /u/OrganizationNo6167 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Aug 5, 2025) to the /r/Truckers subreddit showing a clueless driver coming to a complete stop on this I-74 on-ramp, causing OP to simultaneously slam on his brakes and swerve to avoid crashing.

Check out his on-board dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident occurred on the I-74 on-ramp/slip road, transitioning from I-465 towards Peoria (Exact location on Google Maps linked here).

As the dashcam shows, OP enters and prepares to exit I-465 onto I-74.

As he enters the on-ramp, for some reason, perhaps linked to another driver stopping in the gore point, a driver in a white Toyota Corolla comes to a complete stop in front of OP.

Thankfully, OP was following at a safe distance and had enough time to emergency brake and swerve out of the way.

OP squeezes past the stopped Corolla, coming within a handful of feet of rear-ending/side-swiping them.

“The F***! Why are you stopping!” OP yells shortly after laying his horn for several seconds in frustration.

“I wish like hell I had the super-power to force people into self-awareness: I want somebody who does something like this to feel so goddamn stupid that it hurts,” one of the top comments from /u/JohnProof reads.

“Imagine yielding to someone who missed their exit behind a 75k lb semi carrying suici*e coils. I wish I had a PA system so loud it would shatter their windows and eardrums, and maybe, just maybe, they might realize they did something wrong. But when it comes to an actual yield sign on an on ramp, nope, I get on now good luck everybody!!,” OP replied.

For those who are wondering, myself included, suici*e coils are large and heavy steel coils, often transported on flatbed trailers.

They are sometimes referred to as “suic*de coils” when loaded in a way where the eye of the coil faces the sides of the truck, creating a potential danger if they shift during transport.

In Indiana, stopping on an I‑74 on‑ramp or similar highway entrance without a valid reason (without avoiding a conflict) is typically treated as an entrance/exit violation on a limited‑access highway.

Violators are subject to a fine of up to $300 before all the fees and 4 points on their record.
