Both drivers emergency braked, preventing what would’ve been one messy accident.
Overland Park commuter and Redditor /u/ampl3f0rth shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Aug 29, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing one careless driver attempting to turn left across W 151st. St, shoot out into traffic without yielding properly and almost caused their own disastrous t-bone collision.
Check out the moment caught on dashcam below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on the 8300 block of W 151st St. as this driver exited the Trailwind Center Shopping Plaza (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along W 151st St. when he approaches the driveway to the aforementioned shopping plaza.
We can see a driver in a dark-colored Acura TLX approach the driveway and drive out onto 151st, across cross traffic, presumably to immediatly turn left.
Seemingly, they didn’t see OP approaching as they both slammed on their brakes.
It’s worth noting OP’s car appears to be bright green, as evidenced by the hood.
You’d think that’d make it easier to see among the drab colors of everyday traffic.
Apparently, not so.
Thankfully, they both avoid hitting each other, but only by a few feet.
The TLX driver backs away while OP continues on.
“I’m proud of you, OP. And damn, your brakes worked. Good job!,” the top comment from /u/Most-Road-5366 reads.
“Don’t make fun of him, his name is Helen Keller,” /u/TheOilChecker69 humoursly added.
“At least they showed a bit of remorse? I’ve had people flip me off in similar situations,” /u/Brob101 pointed out.
In Kansas, the fine for a typical failure-to-yield violation is $75 before additional fees, as listed on the state’s Uniform Fine Schedule.
