This accident was easily prevented if only the left turner had yielded properly, and that means creeping to get a better peep.

Maplewood-area driver and Redditor /u/UrThirdCousin shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Sept 3, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a left turner going across two lanes of stopped traffic, failing to yield properly (right-of-way tbd,) resulting in them getting t-boned by a driver cutting through.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on Big Bend Blvd, across from a Quik Trip Station and just before the intersection with Manchester Ave. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped just before the driveway of the aforementioned QuikTrip, with another lane of traffic also stopped, leaving a gap for cars exiting.

It’s worth noting there’s no road signage/markings instructing cars to leave a space clear.

We see a driver exiting the Quik Trip in a white GMC Acadia attempting to turn left across stopped traffic, which they sort of do, except they don’t take into account a driver cruising down the two-way-left-turn lane to be there.

A driver in a Red Toyota Camry in the two-way-left turn lane ends up t-boning the front corner of the driver’s side front fender of the left turner.

According to the MO handbook, drivers are allowed to drive up to 500 feet down said center turn lane, “when preparing to slow down or stop before making a left turn from the main roadway”

It’s up for debate if that driver in the red Camry was headed to the intersection to turn or if they were just bypassing traffic.

For what it’s worth, from where the Camry is in the video and the intersection, it’s 470 feet.

Regardless, the white GMC Acadia driver, not gunning it and, instead, creeping and peeping their way across stopped traffic, would’ve easily prevented this low-speed collision.

“The super rare three lane wave of death. Achievement unlocked,” the top comment from /u/styckx reads.

“That’s why it’s called a ‘su*cide lane,” /u/saabister added.

“Watching the rest of the traffic move on with their day must be the worst part of a wreck,” /u/themightymos-deaf pointed out.

In Missouri, failure to yield results in a fine of up to $125 before fees and three points.

Improper lane usage gets a driver a fine of up to $89.50 before fees and two points on their record.
