An encounter with a less diligent driver could’ve spelled a nasty t-bone collision for this drive not paying attention.

Middlesex County driver and Redditor /u/HabeLinkin shared headshaking dashcam footage from Edison to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing one oblivious driver just blitzing past a stop sign at Edison Towne Square, showing no plans to stop at all.

Check out his dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened in the 1000 Block of U.S. Route 1 in Edison at the Edison Towne Square across from Tio Taco + Tequila.

As the dashcam shows, OP rolls up to the T-intersection at the aforementioned intersection and comes to a stop, letting traffic that arrived at the perpendicular street first cross.

OP then moves to go because it’s his turn, but he hesitates, a driver in a red Toyota Rav-4 approaches from the right and shows no signs of slowing despite the stop sign staring them in the face.

The RAV-4 driver blows past the stop sign while OP follows, perhaps to get the driver’s attention to how close they were to getting t-boned.

Thankfully, nothing came of the incident.

Whether that driver actually noticed their mistake remains unknown, but you can venture a guess that they probably didn’t.

“The driver can’t stop at a stop sign if they don’t see it because they’re too busy texting someone. Distracted drivers suck a**,” one of the top comments from /u/StackThePads33 reads.

“Probably too deep into his phone to notice anything beyond the car in front moving and thinking ‘ah okay to pass’,” /u/Manunancy adds.

“Idk why Altima’s get all the hate when Rav4 drivers are also menaces,” /u/FuzzelFox observes.

In New Jersey, running a stop sign (NJSA 39:4-144) can result in a fine of up to $200, potentially 15 days in jail, and two points added to your driving record.
