This Washingtonian’s dashcam likely saved another driver from a false liability claim.

Bremerton-area driver and Redditor /u/CheckPointCharlie67 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in September (Sept 5, 2025) to the /r/Dashcam subreddit showing a driver in a Nissan slamming into the rear of this Chevrolet Suburban on this WA-3 on-ramp.

When it came time to fess up to blame, the Nissan driver chose to lie without knowing there was incriminating evidence.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened along Kitsap Way as drivers merged onto SR-3/WA-3 (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s footage shows, we are presented with a rear-view look at Kitsap Way.

To our left, we can see a driver in what looks like a mid-2010s Nissan Sentra approaching the rear of a Chevrolet Suburban fast.

They both appear headed to the WA-3 on-ramp.

The Sentra clips the rear bumper of the Suburban, sending them into a traffic island, taking out a traffic light before they’re seen careening down an embankment, presumably coming to a stop.

“Heard a crash and saw the rim fly by me. So I slowed down, stopped, and hit the save button on my camera,” OP replies to a comment asking how he knew to save the video and eventually pull over to share the video with a responding officer.

As the above comment suggests, OP waited around with both drivers until a responding officer and other emergency services showed up.

“The sedan driver claimed they were being brake checked until I showed the officer the video,” OP recounts.

“Good for you for stopping,” the top comment from /u/loztriforce reads.

“People lie, video does not,” /u/TroglodyteGuy added.

“Brain checked more like it,” /u/Lumpy-Marsupial-6617 witily added.

In Washington, rear-ending someone because you weren’t paying attention is often written up as negligent driving, 2nd degree, a traffic infraction that usually runs about $250.

Drivers can also be cited for following too closely, which carries a $48 base fine before court fees.
