Yes, the cheapest Tesla Model 3 Standard and Tesla Model Y Standard come with 18″ Steel Wheels with aero covers.

Earlier this week, Tesla announced a cheaper and slimmed-down package for the Tesla Model 3 and Y called Standard to largely offset higher tariffs on Chinese-made EVs and to keep its U.S. lineup competitively priced after losing the federal EV Tax Credit.

One interesting exterior feature for the Model 3 and Y Standard is 18″ wheels with all-new aero cover designs.

The Model 3 sports new 18″ Prismata Wheel aerocovers, which, according to Car Youtuber GJeebs, are the most efficient wheel covers ever produced for the Model 3.

However, what’s underneath those wheel covers?

Thankfully, YouTuber Everyday Chris did the actual investigative journalism of yanking that Prismata wheel cover off to reveal the wheel underneath.

“Do not take off the rims,” Everyday Chris said as he yanked the wheel covers off. “That is musty. They always used to put a nice rim under their aero covers, however, this one is the opposite of that.

What’s actually underneath the aero covers of the new Tesla Model 3 standard.

Yes, the Tesla Model 3 Standard does come with 18″ steel wheels (5-lug, 10 spoke design) wrapped in Hankook Ventus S1 AS tires.

Social media commenters are saying it looks a lot like the cheapest Silverado Work Trucks.

OK, but how about the Tesla Model Y?

Just like the Model 3, the Model Y Standard comes with 18″ wheels with an all-new “Aperture” aero cover.

But what’s underneath?

Unfortunately, no one’s been brave enough to rip the aero cover off to see what’s underneath.

However, there’s at least one user on X who claims those 18″ wheels underneath aren’t alloys but steel wheels.

Just like the Model 3 Standard, it stands to reason the Model Y Standard has steel wheels, too.

When I do find a source, I’ll update this post accordingly.
