“Too bad for him, I feel like being a petty a**hole,” this dashcam owner captioned his video clip submission.

Queens area commuter and Redditor /u/Polaris_00 shared a dashcam video of him standing up for himself from earlier at the tail end of September (Sept 30, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Ram 1500 pickup driver trying to brute force his way past traffic by going the wrong direction against traffic, only to be stopped by OP, who refused to let him by.

Check out a case of instant karma in the dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on the 20th Ave overpass that goes over the 678 (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along 20th Ave in the left-most lane, headed over the 678.

Suddenly, a Ram 1500 driver going the opposite way tries to cut traffic by going the opposite way, setting a collision course for OP’s front bumper.

However, with the right of way, OP refuses to budge.

For 10 seconds, they stare at each other until the Ram 1500 driver concedes, forced to slot back into traffic, going the direction he’s supposed to.

“What the heck is wrong with you?,” OP says to him as he drives by.

“This is the left turn lane.”

“I love when people put their hands up or out the window, like it’s your fault for them being a dumba** 😄,” the top comment from /u/SheckShow858 reads.

“That’s not you being petty, that’s you NOT swerving into the next lane over and causing an accident like a lot of folks would do. He deserved his shame,” /u/BlatantDoughtnut added.

“I like how he gestures for you to go around, then a car immediately passes you in that lane, so it clearly wasn’t safe to go around,” /u/ti*smagee9 points out.

“What an absolute jack***.”

In New York, driving against traffic, particularly to cut into a lane, is a serious offense.

In the above case, this driver could be cited for Improper Passing or Lane Usage (VTL § 1128), subject to a fine between $90-$150 before all the fees and 2 points on your driving record.
