It appears this Tesla driver was a student driver being given bad driving directions by his Dad.
Montgomery County driver and Redditor /u/Kaowerk share headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Oct 17, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing what looks like a learner driver in a Tesla Model Y attempting to make a turn and head the wrong way down the One-Way Grosvenor Lane.
Check out the dashcam embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
[OC] This poor kid in the driver’s seat is getting some questionable driving lessons from dad.

The incident happened on Grocvenor Lane just before the intersection with Rockville Pike (exact location on Google Maps linked here)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving down Grosvenor.
As noted in the title and in the video, a point which will become important soon, is Grosvenor’s traffic at that point is separated by a raised median divider.
OP comes up on a Tesla Model Y with its reverse lights on and slows down in anticipation of a hare-brained move.
OP then sees the Tesla driver not only reverse, but attempt what looks like a 3-point turn to head the other way, as noted, not an option on the one-way nature of the street.
A driver approaching in the far right turn lane comes up to the Tesla and honks his disapproval before stopping and waiting for the Tesla driver to make their move.
“This is a one-way road, you can’t turn around,” OP explains to the driver within earshot with an open window.
At that point, presumably the driver’s dad starts shouting something unintelligible back at OP, which, whatever it is, is a moot point.
Finally, the Tesla driver is “forced” to go the right way, the video ending as we see the Model Y heading left onto Rockville Pike, but before we see them run the stop sign, too.
“Dad needs to teach his kid how to use a damn stop sign…,” one of the top comments from /u/TheOriginalDroman reads.
“Of. F***ing. COURSE it’s Maryland,” local /u/RL_MUTT added.
“I want to scream at these people that roads are connected to each other. You are not going to just vaporize into a parallel dimension if you pass your exit. You don’t need to do shit like this. Take the L, make the wrong turn, take an extra 3 minutes to not cause s*** like this.”
“There are too many people on their phones that could have obliterated OP from behind for this s*** to fly. I hate driving in this state so much.“
In Maryland, attempting to make a turn onto a one-way street from the wrong direction is a violation of Transportation Code §21-1003.1, which prohibits such maneuvers. This offense typically results in a $25 fine before all the fees and 1 point on your driving record. (Maryland Courts)
Running a stop sign is considered a moving violation under Transportation Code §21-801. It typically results in a $70–$100 fine and 3 points on your driving record.
