This driver’s early morning mistake could’ve turned disastrous.
Harrison County/Huffman-area commuter and Redditor /u/SplashingChicken shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in the week (Oct 21, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an early morning driver making the near-disastrous mistake of turning onto this FM 1960 stroad without yielding to cross traffic at all.
Check out the dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in the 11620 block of Farm to Market 1960 Rd E, a stroad in Lake Houston, Houston, TX (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam video shows, OP is driving along FM 1960 early in the morning when he approaches The Shops of Huffman shopping plaza to the left.
Suddenly, a driver exiting the shopping plaza turns left across cross traffic and directly in the path of OP.
Ideally, that driver should’ve yielded; however, that was not the case.
Thankfully, OP was paying attention and has the wherewithal and space to dodge the clueless driver.
Had he hit that driver at that speed, it would’ve been disastrous.
Thankfully, both parties made it out of the near miss unscathed.
Whether that other driver learned an important lesson, I wouldn’t bet on it.
“…it’s very common for people to use the suicide lane to merge on this particular road. I’ve only been awake for 30 minutes from my prior 13 hour shift. This is a reasonable reaction and no accidents occurred,” OP clarified to a commenter calling them out for not being alert.
“WOW! In the dark in a dark car! Just WOW. Really, really good save,” one of the top comments from /u/MDCB_1 reads.
“This pisses me off so much,” /u/Pu**tWhistle added.
