Was this driver, as suggested by other commenters and locals, drunk? Probably so.
Vegas visitor and Redditor /u/actually_iceman shared infuriating dashcam footage from earlier last week (Oct 30, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an absolute nutter nearly backing over OP and his girlfriend at this Rainbow Blvd restaurant.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident occurred at this popular strip of restaurants in the 9000 block of S. Rainbow Blvd. in Las Vegas (Exact location on Google Maps linked here).
As the dashcam footage shows, OP and his girlfriend arrive at the aforementioned address, park, and begin to head into what looks like The Greek Gyro.
Suddenly, a driver in a Fiat 500 L starts to reverse, wildly and at a high speed, towards OP.
OP sees this start to go down and immediatly grabs his girlfriend out of the way, narrowly avoiding getting run down as the Fiat stops after reversing.
Had he not been paying attention, they would’ve been hit.
MANY in the comments, myself included, surmise this is the actions of a drunk driver.
“I didn’t notice this my first two times at Vegas, but on my third, I suddenly realized there were a LOT of drunken drivers. There were people driving over curbs, bumper cars, hitting signs, and ambulances everywhere .I don’t know how I didn’t see it before. Probably was too drunk lol,” one of the top comments from /u/HappyFT reads.
If it were the case, they likely wouldn’t have stuck around if they were hit.
Additionally, if they didn’t have a dashcam, potential injuries aside, they’d be at the mercy of the business’s security cameras to find some kind of footage to find the responsible driver.
“Glad you’re both ok. Definitely an idiot in a car,” /u/Serious-Extension738 concurred.
“Wow, did they even realize what they did? That’s crazy. Why would you back up that fast in a parking lot?” /u/itmightbehere added.
In Nevada, a DUI conviction does not add demerit points but triggers automatic license suspension or revocation, with first-time offenses carrying fines of $400 to $1,000 plus court costs and a $35 civil penalty (shouselaw.com). Repeat or felony DUIs can carry fines up to $5,000 or more, and accumulating 12 or more points from other moving violations within 12 months results in a six-month license suspension (dmv.nv.gov).
If you didn’t know already, the above applies to visitors and tourists, too.
