Was this driver driving under the influence or plain ol’ distracted?

Late-night McDonald’s enjoyer and Redditor /u/ImportantUpstairs712 shared hilarious dashcam footage from Galt from earlier at the end of September (Sept, 30,2025) showing what looks like a distracted driver (or perhaps someone who’s had too much to drink) crashing their own car into the side of the McDonald’s Building in the drive-thru.

Check out his dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

[OC] McDonald’s drive thru gone wrong. (Galt Ca, USA)

The incident happened at the McDonald’s at the intersection of Twin Cities Rd. and Stockton Blvd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the footage shows, OP is lined up behind our subject in a Ford Focus Hatch at the aforementioned McDonald’s.

With space free in front of the Focus, the driver goes forward, but not before veering left into the side of the building.

Crunch!

The Focus owner likely crumpled the corner of his ride pretty badly.

If repaired through a body repair shop and routed through insurance, the damage is easily $1,000+

What ensues is what everyone in the thread is calling a fit of contagious laughter.

Even the McDonald’s employee at the first window, flabbergasted at what happened, asks OP if that driver did indeed hit his car.

“Yes, it did,” OP replied. “You know where this (the footage) is going? To dashcam channels like on the YouTube channels (and apparently Reddit.)

And that’s where the clip ends, the distracted driver driving off with their food, embarrassed (assuming they weren’t under the influence.)

In California, even a low-speed crash into a drive-thru building on private property can result in fines and 2 points on your driving record if you fail to stop and report the damage. Typically, if you exchange information with the property owner and report the accident properly, criminal penalties are unlikely.

However, keen eyes will notice that a yellow pole is placed there, likely, specifically to mitigate damage to the building, so this kind of collision, property owners won’t even worry about.

Bollards, it’s what they’re there for.

A DUI, however, in California, a first-time DUI can lead to fines around $1,800–$2,500, 2 points on your record, a 4-month license suspension, possible jail time up to 6 months, mandatory DUI programs, and additional fees.
