Instead of self-correcting, they steered even more into the wrong lane. Did they think they were in the UK?

Canyonlands enjoyer and Redditor /u/SirEwokHunter shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in October (Oct 5, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in what was probably a Buick rental veering into the wrong lane of traffic towards OP, the dashcam owner.

And, instead of self-correcting into the right lane, what they did instead is kind of baffling on its own.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened in Canyonlands National Park on Grand View Point Rd. just before Buck Canyon Overlook (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along Grand View Point Rd towards Buck Canyon Overlook when they approach a slight right.

Suddenly, coming towards them in their lane is another driver in a Buick SUV, clearly not paying attention.

OP slams on their brakes to avoid a collision, and in response, the other driver drives further into the wrong lane, stopping before driving off the ditch?

Yeah, you’d think they’d swerve back into their own lane, but such was not the case.

OP re-routes around them, and both parties make it out of the strange encounter unscathed.

“Let me just veer further into the wrong freaking lane…,” the top comment from /u/saltymane reads.

“(It was probably a) foreign driver forgetting which side of the road to be on,” /u/FLTDI hypothesized.

“Oh, heavens! I forgot that I was in the colonies!” /u/scowdich hilariously replied.

In Utah, driving into oncoming traffic is typically cited as improper lane travel or reckless driving, depending on the severity. It carries up to four driver’s license points and fines ranging from $150 to $750, with possible jail time if it results in an accident or endangerment.
