Speeding? Check. Using the Bike lane illegally? Check. Driving too fast for conditions? Check.
Reno driver and Redditor /u/BaitingTheMaster shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in November (Nov 17, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Fiat 500 driver not only speeding, but using a bike lane to overtake, all while it’s soaking, raining wet.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below.
The incident happened in the 13000 block of Stead Blvd, where, according to OP, this stretch of road is often used as a drop-off/pick-up point for school and commuter buses. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam shows, OP is driving along Stead Blvd on one of the few rain-soaked Reno days.
The speed limit on this stretch is 45 MPH.
Suddenly, a driver in a black Fiat 500 can be seen behind OP, fast approaching well beyond the speed limit.
They had to be going around 60 MPH.
Then, in a truly insane piece of driving, the Fiat driver pulls into the bike lane and uses the breakdown shoulder to overtake.
The last we see of the Fiat driver is them making a right on Lear before disappearing out of view.
“Just another person driving like they don’t mind killing people if it saves them the torment of being in their car for any longer than possible,” the top comment from /r/ragweed reads.
“That person is definitely gonna learn from the school of hard knocks… which is better said than what I’m thinking so I don’t get banned,” /u/lost-in-the-sierras added.
“That’s the weirdest-looking bicycle I’ve seen in a while,” /u/SomethingIWontRegret humorously added.
In Reno, driving in a bike lane to overtake a vehicle is illegal and can carry a fine of $250–$1,000 and 4 demerit points if it causes a collision. Speeding carries fines that vary by how much over the limit you go, plus 1–5 points depending on the severity, and speeding in rain can be treated as “too fast for conditions.” Combining both violations increases risk, and accumulating 12+ points in a year can lead to a license suspension. There’s no separate extra fine just for doing this in the rain, but courts can consider the weather when determining penalties (Nevada DMV; NRS 484B.270, 484B.600).
