Careless driver fails to yield to dashcam owner with the right of way. Almost gets rear-ended.

Berkshire County-area driver and Redditor /u/Cheessburgerchase shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in December (Dec 10, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing, who OP called one “Dumb Driver,” bolting out onto Stockbridge Rd without yielding.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the T-intersection of Stockbridge Rd. and Commonwealth Ave (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along a snow-dusted Stockbridge Rd.

As such, road conditions are not conducive to emergency braking, quick steering, or sudden maneuvers.

As he approaches the T-intersection with Commonwealth, firstslipping into the center turn lane, a driver in a black Nissan Rogue bolts out onto Stockbridge Rd to make a left without even the slightest effort to yield to OP approaching from the right.

Sure, their visibility to traffic from the right was momentarily blocked by passing cars, but that’s a normal driving situation that drivers go through.

OP emergency brakes to avoid a collision, giving the Rogue driver a heavy dose of the horn, too.

An inordinate number of Redditors blamed OP for entering the center turn lane too soon, to which the top comment from /u/squeakynickles reads.

“A lot of people are getting on OP’s case about ‘how long he was in the turning lane.”

“You’re supposed to enter the turning lane, then slow down for your turn. If he did what all y’all are saying, he would have had to slam on his brakes.”

“I mean, his turn was 3 seconds in front of him when he entered. That’s a normal distance to enter at.”

Thankfully, OP has enough traction and braking power to come to a complete stop and avoids rear-ending the Rogue by a couple feet.

“Cut out in front of you, in SNOW no less. Some people just love throwing themselves into danger,” one of the top comments from /u/Sanguine7 reads.

Good defensive driving on your part. That other driver is an impatient idiot,” /u/Spare-Ad6404 added.

In Massachusetts, failing to yield when turning left (i.e., not giving right of way to oncoming traffic) is a moving violation that appears on the citable motor vehicle table with an assessment of about $35 plus surcharge and typically results in points on your driving record that can affect insurance premiums. State law also generally caps failure‑to‑yield fines at up to $200, and since yielding on a left turn is required by right‑of‑way statutes, ignoring it can lead to a citation and points from the RMV. (malegislature.gov)
