Multiple cars were caught on dashcam running a red light and performing an illegal U-turn to avoid it, but they supposedly ended up in the same place anyway.
PWC-area commuter and Redditor /u/DarkCrownPnoi shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in January (Jan 9, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing two red light runners and an illegal u-turner, all busting out said illegal driving maneuvers to avoid a red light, only to end up in the same place anyway.

The incidents happened at the intersection of Gideon Dr. and Bixby Rd. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along Gideon Dr.
In front of him are a handful of cars, including a Tesla and a Chevrolet SUV.
As they approach the aforementioned intersection, their light turns from green to yellow, warning drivers to begin to slow or stop for the impending red.
Of course, that’s not what happens here.
The driver in the Chevrolet accelerates to beat the red, and so does the Tesla.
Both enter the intersection and cross the limit line before their light turns red, making them red light runners.
But wait, there’s more.
A driver in a white Lexus tries to make what’s called a right-right turn to avoid a red light.
It might be legal if done correctly, but the driver crosses a double solid yellow line, making their u-turn turning it into an overall illegal driving maneuver.
“Please tell me you met up with that white sedan at the next intersection. Probably implausible, but that would make my day. His little maneuver was infuriating,” the top comment from /u/pjsssjas reads.
“Yes, both cars were at the next intersection waiting for that light to turn green. They saved zero seconds by blowing through the light and doing the dumb maneuver,” OP replied.
“I can’t stand the white car. It’s still just as illegal – you didn’t figure out some cheat code to run red lights, genius. So if you’re going to go through it like that, just run the red,” /u/K12onReddit added.
Running a red light is a traffic infraction in Virginia punishable by fines up to about $350 plus court costs and typically adds 4 demerit points to the driver’s DMV record.
Making an illegal U‑turn (such as mid‑block over double yellow) is also a traffic infraction with fines commonly in the range of $81–$151 total and adds 3 demerit points to your driving record.
