This driver on Seattle Hill approaching the T-Intersection was likely too distracted to notice the red light staring him in the face.
Bothell-area driver and Redditor /u/PenScribble shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in January (Jan 7, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing what was likely a distracted driver approaching this busy T-intersection, blowing the red light and nearly t-boning a left turner with the right of way as a result.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident occurred at the T-intersection of Seattle Hill Road and 148th Street SE (Exact location on Google Maps linked here).
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed northbound up Seattle Hill.
Right when the video starts, he already has the red light at the aforementioned T-intersection, and so does southbound traffic, too.
You’ll have to squint, but a driver in a white Honda CR-Von Seattle Hill going the other way seemingly shows no signs of slowing, approaching the t-intersection, and crosses the limit line about the same time as a driver turning left with the right of way does too.
If either doesn’t adjust, they’re both on a collision course.
Thankfully, the distracted driver in the Honda CR-V seems to come to his senses at the last millisecond and veers out of the way, narrowly avoiding a collision.
“Yeah, I almost got t-boned the other day bc someone going straight ran a red,” the top comment shared by /u/RedRisingNerd reads.
In Washington state, running a red light is a traffic infraction that usually results in a fine (often around $100–$250 depending on location and whether an officer issues it). Traditional red-light violations handled by law enforcement can add points to your driving record and potentially affect insurance, whereas **automated camera-issued red light tickets are treated more like civil fines and typically **do *not* add points** to your license. Accumulating points from moving violations can lead to higher insurance rates or even license suspension if too many build up. (drivinglaws.org)
