This Nissan driver didn’t do their due diligence to check their blind spot before pulling out before a lane change, and this dashcam owner almost paid dearly.

Arlington-area driver and Redditor /u/StoryBookHD shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier yesterday (Aug 24, 2026) showing the harebrained moment a driver, stuck in traffic, simply pulled out of their lane without looking, almost sideswiping OP in the process.

Check out the near collision that almost resulted below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened in the 300-400 block of S. Collins St. right at the intersectino with Eunice St in front of Sam’s All Pets Animal Clinic (Exact location linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving northbound on Collins St. in Lane #1, with traffic backed up in the other two lanes.

As he approaches and begins to pass a driver in a silver Nissan Altima, it’s apperent they’re ready to cut the line, with just about half their car already out of the lane.

Suddenly, without warning (no signal), the Altima driver bolts into OP’s lane.

OP has to emergency-brake to avoid what would’ve been an expensive collision.

It was darn close, OP coming within a few inches of that Altima’s passenger front fender.

Understandably so, OP can be heard laying on his horn before turning right onto Abram St.

“Wow, did all that just to end up in the same spot he was? What a jabroni,” the top comment from /u/LegateDamar reads.

“No seriously, hence my PUNCHING of the horn. She damn near ruined both our mornings for 0 gain,” OP replied.

“Nice reaction time though! Their brake lights gave you a potential warning of their next action, but still, good work,” /u/Cavalol complimented OP.

“Thank you, I give the 15+ years of car video games and 5+ years of sim rig driving the credit. I keep my guard on high alert in this area cause its a train track crossing right after that light, so when the train is going, the left two lanes are always backed way up, so people think they can cut by using the turn lane,” OP replied.

In Arlington, Texas, an unsafe/no-look lane change can result in a fine of up to $200 under Texas Transportation Code §545.060. It can also result in 2 points on your Texas driving record as a moving violation.
