Despite having a visible yield sign, this semi blew past it and almost collided with this dashcam owner.
Canadian County driver and Redditor /u/NuggaLOAF shared infuriating and shocking dashcam footage from earlier in January (Jan 10, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an 18-wheeler driver coming off of I-40, blowing past a yield sign, and almost colliding with OP had they not taken evasive maneuvers.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of I-40 and S Morgan Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP was originally going westbound on I-40 when they take the exit onto S Morgan St.
Around the same time, a driver in an 18-wheeler going the other way on I-40 does the same thing, heads towards Morgan St.
The difference is that OP has a green light and the right of way to turn onto Morgan Rd. while the semi has a yield sign, screenshot of their POV below.
As OP turns left onto Morgan St, he sees the semi headed his way.
“That semi’s not stopping,” OP’s passenger says, foreshadowing what was soon to come.
Seeing the semi was, indeed, not stopping, OP brakes, swerves out of the way, and honks his horn.
It’s close…too close.
Despite being boxed in by the raised median and the semi, not only failing to yield, but swinging into OP’s lane, too, OP escapes what would’ve been a massive and destructive (not to mention likely injurious) side swipe collision by a handful of feet.
“What the f***!,” OP’s passenger exclaims, and rightfully so.
“And he took your lane.”
“That intersection sucks…I’m a truck driver that has to go there quite often…4 truck stops at each corner of the intersection…that Pilot entrance and Exit is the worst, at least there’s a light…,” one of the top comments from /u/derekschroer reads.
“Oh, I know. I live a mile from here, and I usually use 240 to go east because I-40 is a hotbed of truckers, and this is the last exit before the city for semis,” OP replied.
In Oklahoma (including Yukon, OK), failing to yield at a yield sign is a moving violation; under the state’s point system, it generally carries 2 points on your driving record. Oklahoma traffic fines vary by court, but many local fines for failing to yield are around $170–$270 or more, depending on the municipal schedule and court costs. Accumulating points like this can affect your license status if you hit the state’s suspension threshold. (DMV.org)
Note: Exact fine amounts are set by the court/municipality where you’re cited, so they can differ from one town to another.
