Two people are reportedly OK after overtaking a dashcam owner at speeds that looked like triple digits, losing control, and flipping multiple times.
Mobile-area driver and Redditor /u/LukeNukeEm243 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Feb 19, 2026) showing an extreme speeder overtaking OP at speeds that had to be 100+ MPH before they lost control and flipped into a ditch.
Here’s the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in Mobile, going northbound on Snow (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along Snow Rd around midnight.
“This 2 mile strech of road is very wooded and frequently has deer late at night. The most I saw in one night was 13,” OP shared.
Suddenly, a driver in a Mercedes, control already lost at that moment, comes flying by OP at speeds that had to be 100+ MPH.
The speed limit in this area is 45 MPH.
The driver skids into a ditch backwards before flipping at least twice, landing tires down.
“Both occupants said they were OK,” OP clarified.
“My car is a 2023 MX-5 Miata. I was driving with low-beam headlights on. And, even if I was only using DRLs, then the taillights would still be on, because they are only off if headlights and DRLs are off,” OP replied to a comment asking if his rear taillights were on.
“How do you crash on a straight dry road lmao. I think dude was going 100+ mph on his phone or was impaired, and then freaked out when he saw your taillights. Honestly, better that he crashed, though, and didn’t rear-end you because you would have 100% got hurt from whiplash, especially your back and head,” the top comment from /u/biggranny000 reads.
In Mobile, Alabama, exceeding 100 mph and crashing (especially if charged as reckless driving for losing control) is a misdemeanor that can bring **up to a $500 fine, possible jail time (5–90 days), and typically adds about *6 points* on your license** under Alabama’s reckless driving law. (Justia Law)
If it’s charged simply as a speeding ticket far over the limit, local fines in Mobile climb above the usual speeding brackets (e.g., $209+ for 25 mph+ over), and speeding 26+ mph over adds 5 points — but reckless is very likely at 100+ mph with a crash. (Mobile County Circuit Court)
(Exact fines and sentence depend on how the charge is written and any court costs.)
