This BMW driver couldn’t care less about anyone else’s safety, let alone his own, with this wild high-s
Aurora-area driver and Redditor /u/RustyPants shared headshaking dashcam footage from I-225 from earlier in July (July 17, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an absolutely unhinged BMW driver, recklessly speeding through traffic and coming within inches of rear-ending OP’s car, which would’ve caused a multi-vehicle accident.

The incident happened on I-225 just before the overpass with E Yale Ave (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed northbound on I-225 into the heart of Aurora.
Suddenly, behind him, a driver in a silver BMW approaches at what has to be 100+ MPH- triple-digit speeds.
The BMW driver threads the needle between the closing gap of a driver in a blue Acura SUV behind OP to their right and OP’s vehicle.
The BMW comes within inches of hitting OP, but thankfully doesn’t.
The BMW can be seen speeding away, cutting in and out of relatively light traffic, needlessly.
“Was on my way home and just happened to notice this person change lanes behind me and was like, oh, they can see me, they will slow down,” OP explained in the comments.
“Then I watched them speed up and braced myself expecting them to hit me. I’m still not sure how they didn’t hit me or the other drive but I truly hope they get their car seized. If you slow down the video, they are still in my lane when they pass and haven’t even fully changed lanes.”

In Colorado, there isn’t a separate offense called “extreme speeding,” but driving 25 mph or more over the speed limit can result in a mandatory court appearance, fines that vary by the charge, and 6 driver’s license points for speeding 25–39 mph over the limit (or 12 points for 40+ mph over). Aggressively weaving through traffic can also lead to careless driving or reckless driving charges, with reckless driving carrying up to 8 license points, fines, and possible jail time depending on the circumstances. Penalties can stack if multiple violations are cited.
This happens multiple times every single time I drive on the freeways in Denver but is not caught on a dashcam. This is not really news is it?
