Representatives of the American Trucking industry visited the White House earlier yesterday and it looks like Donald Trump had himself a ball with the Mack Trucks parked in the White house driveway.

It’s not everyday that you get to see two full-size big rigs parked at the White House then get to witness the leader of the free world walk outside and proceed to, quite literally, toot his own horn. According to Time and a host of other news outlets earlier yesterday (Mar. 24, 2017) representatives from the American trucking industry visited the White House along with a pair of two American made MACK Trucks. Within seconds of Trumps arrival to meet the representatives, the entire nation got to witness their Commander in Chief climb into the cab of a black MACK Truck and proceed to pull the horn cord six times. Check out the video below!

According to CNBC, trucking makes up for about one in sixteen jobs in the United States in the over $725 billion industry. With more than 70 percent of our nation’s goods transported by the trucking industry you can see why Trump’s meeting with the nation’s trucking representatives was a big deal. Hot on the heels of the Republican’s vote in the house to repeal Obamacare with Trump’s version of Healthcare reform, (which as of this time officially didn’t make it past the house,) Trump’s meeting with the American Trucker’s was part of a long campaign to not only repeal Obamacare but to keep his promise to support our American Trucking Industry.

“I am honored to welcome all of the many truckers and … industry leaders to the White House,” Trump said during the meeting, according to a video at the Washington Post. “America depends on you, and you work very hard for America.”

With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, many individual truckers saw the cost of their healthcare increase due to a larger pool of previously uninsured people who need insurance joining the mix. This in turn had a trickle down affect to Owner Operators who don’t have a company providing healthcare but pay for insurance out of pocket. Obamacare was great news for those who opted out of healthcare before because they couldn’t afford it but wasn’t all that great news for profitable owner operators who already were paying a monthly premium.

Trump in the White House tooting Mack Trucks is a good sign for the American Trucking industry as a whole with Trump’s promise to “Make America Great Again.” But with Trumpcare dead in the water right now, we’ll have to wait and see this all plays out with those who transport our nation’s goods.
