If you were thinking about buying a Mazda Miata anytime soon now might be a good time to pull the trigger.

It’s rare for Mazda to offer any sort of discount on its most popular little roadster, the 2017 Mazda Miata but that might change in the next couple of weeks. Got your pens and pencils ready? According to our motoring friends over at Cars Direct on their report earlier this week (Apr. 5,2017), Mazda is offering at least $2,000 cash on the hood of all remaining stock of 2016 Mazda Miata’s available on dealer lots. First, check out a couple of photos showcasing a couple of these awesome little roadsters below and read on for all the juicy details on what you have to expect to snag yourself a deal.

In a deal that started on Apr 4th, in certain dealerships on the sunny west coast, Mazda is offering $1,500 in bonus cash for the sole reason of pushing more off lots and into garages. Mazda then offers a $500 loyalty bonus if you’re a current Mazda owner. That means before you have even set foot on a dealership floor you’ve already guaranteed yourself $2,000 in savings. Keep in mind that this deal expires on May 1. And good news if you’re a military veteran or currently serving as there happens to always be a $500 military discount as well.

Let’s take for example this 2016 Mazda Miata at Bob Baker Mazda in Carlsbad, California. MSRP right now is sitting at $29,374. Throw in a $2,000 discount and you’re looking at $27,374. And let’s say you trade in your 1999 Mazda Miata for $2500 and put a 10 percent down payment of $2500. That leaves you with about $22,300 to finance. Finance over five years with California’s 4.4 percent APR and you can get into a Mazda Miata for $415 a month, that depends if you have good credit. Depending on your haggling skills, there may be a little wiggle room in there as well.

Mazda Miata’s are great little cars but Mazda doesn’t seem to be selling them as fast as they thought they would. According to Good Car Bad Car, in the month of March Mazda only sold 1,345 Miatas which happens to be Miata’s best month yet since August of 2015 when they sold one less than that.

So if you’re in the market for a Miata or know someone who is, it would behoove you to forward this information there way.
