A Honda sales training document has unveiled a couple of important details on the 2017 Honda Civic Si.

Although Honda already formally introduced the 2017 Honda Civic Si at the New York International Auto Show, they left out a couple of details that, while not super important, do paint a clearer picture of what to expect. According to our favorite source for all things breaking with Honda, Temple of VTEC, on their post earlier today (April 19, 2017) a 2017 Civic sales training document (now deleted) revealed a couple of important details on the 2017 Honda Civic Si. We now know the full-color palette for Civic Si, engine details as well as a couple of interior and exterior details.

First, there’s the engine. We already know that the L15B7 pumps out 205 HP at 5700 RPM and 192 lb-ft between 2100-5000 RPM but now we know that the Civic Si has a 6500 RPM Redline. This is in stark contrast to the 9th generation Civic Si with a 7,000 RPM redline. Civic Si enthusiasts will have to keep this in mind when banging gears.

Civic Si also has a 28/38/32 MPG rating (city/highway/combined) which is a significant increase over the 9th gen Si with its 22/31 (city/highway) rating. Combined with a 12.4-gallon gas tank we can expect a range of about 380 miles between fillups. The better MPG probably explains the downgraded gas tank size down from 13.2 gallons last generation.

Curb weight for the 2017 Civic Si Sedan is quoted at 2,906 pounds which is 96 pounds less than the 9th gen Civic Si Sedan.

As for colors, you can choose from Aegean Blue Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, Energy Green Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Rallye Red and White Orchard Pearl.

There are a couple of other details but they’re negligible and are expected on Si trim levels.

The jury’s still out as to how Honda’s fanbase will react to this new turbo engine and its performance characteristics but we assume Honda fans will love the torque. And as long as they’re in 6th gear out of boost, Civic Si owners will milk that 38 MPG highway rating for all its worth.

The Honda Civic Si has, until now, been the top trim level for the Civic lineup. Without the Honda Civic Type R halo model, the Civic Si has sold well but could always benefit from the trickle down effect that the Type R gives. With the 2018 Honda Civic Type R most likely selling for around $35,000, with the Civic Si priced about $10,000 less, the Civic Si suddenly becomes a very attractive option.
