Literally, thousands of dashcams and iPhone videos captured that SpaceX rocket launch earlier this week but this is the best one.

Earlier this week, SpaceX headed by Elon Musk, authorized a rocket launch putting 10 communication satellites into orbit. Although literally everyone within a one hundred mile vicinity posted videos, this is the absolute best video captured of the awesome launch. According to SoCal resident Mark Sales and his dashcam video he posted onto Reddit shortly after the rocket launch (Dec. 24, 2017) not only did he catch the rocket launch, he also caught an accident that occurred right next to him and got his family’s response in the process. Check out the video for yourself below! I’ve already fast-forwarded the video to 30 seconds in where the fireworks really begin.

Traveling on the freeway in lightly congested conditions, there were dozens of cars around him experiencing the same celestial light show he was seeing. Unlike jets and the wake they leave behind them, this SpaceX rocket launch was truly mesmerizing with its huge lighted tail and expanding cloud. It was unlike anything the residents of California ever saw.

Unfortunately, that meant multiple drivers had their eyes affixed to this sky and not the road. As Mark slowed down with the rest of traffic, one car in the fast lane next to him didn’t and slammed into the car in front of him at full speed.

You can hear his family’s response with his concerned wife and frightened son (or daughter) in the background. Fortunately, it looks like his car was not caught up in the crash and he escaped unscathed. The same can’t be said for the other cars, one being severely rear-ended and the speeding car’s front end obliterated.

Strange happenings in the night sky are enough to distract any driver but this is just a reminder that no matter what is going on around you, your number one priority when driving is to yourself and your passengers. In short, you should really always be paying attention to everything around you, even if there’s an alien invasion landing in your view.
