Anyone can literally turn their stock 306 HP Honda Civic Type R into a 353 HP Honda Civic Type R with a simple flash tune from Hondata.

If you own a brand spankin’ new FK8 Honda Civic Type R, how would you like an extra 47 HP and 72 lb-ft to the wheels literally within seconds with no changes to the engine? According to Hondata on their official website and on their social media platforms they’ve finally dropped a flash tune for Honda’s halo car that bumps the power up from 306 HP and 295 lb-ft to 353 HP and 367 lb-ft. Most notable is that torque bump. Thanks to good ol’ forced induction and the nature of turbo engines, users who opt for this flash tune will really feel all that power down low.

Check out their announcement on Instagram below.

Here’s the catch. The Hondata’s Flashpro Flash tune will set you back just $695, which is a steal for that much power, but the Flashpro is useless unless you jailbreak Honda’s Bosch ECU.

Thankfully, Hondata offers a jailbreak for your Honda Civic Type R ECU to the tune of $250. That means you’ll have to physically remove the ECU from the engine compartment on your own, send it to Hondata for the jailbreak, then reinstall it before you can use your Flashpro.

If the Honda Civic Type R is your only car, you’ll be without a car unless you’ve got a spare ECU floating around.

Also, the tune isn’t CARB legal so if you’re living in the state of California, before you go for a smog, you’ll have to flash back to the stock ECU tune, which is a pain in the butt considering you’ll have to drive around to clear any OBDII monitor codes.

Nevertheless, the results speak for themselves. Check out the dyno charts by clicking here!

For the 93 Octane tune, the tune most will probably flash too, power comes in hard and fast with horsepower climbing and peaking at 6,000 RPM and the majority of the torque coming in at 3,000 RPM and slightly petering out till redline.

Presumably, this means your MPG’s and overall car reliability over the long run will take a slight hit but who, except for the crazy few, isn’t driving a Honda Civic Type R on the daily?

Hondata already has Flashpro’s for the Honda Accord 2.0T, which shares the engine architecture as the Civic Type R. And with Acura announcing the RDX with available 2.0T, I wonder what Hondata has up their sleeves for that crossover.
