The Ferrari 512S Modulo Concept always had a myth that it couldn’t steer hanging over its head. Jim Glickenhaus shut that myth down.

Anyone who knows anything about the one-off concept that is the Ferrari 512S Modulo Concept is that given its futuristic looks and tire covering fenders, the darn thing couldn’t turn, or so they thought. According to Jim Glickenhaus, the current custodian and restorer of the Ferrrari 512S Modulo Concept, the car turns just fine and the idea that it can’t turn is an absolute myth.

Pre-internet, researching just about anything, corrections to the information you learned was never a thing. What you read you took as canon and only when someone corrected you with information from a reliable source did you change what you learned. Such was the case of the whole Ferrari 512S Modulo Concept not turning myth.

As per Ultimate Car Page, the Ferrari 512S Modulo concept’s covered front wheels made turning itself, “impossible to turn the front wheels.” But when Jalopnik posted an update to Jim Glickenhau’s restoration, notably that the concept was actually up and running after years of sitting, many commenters put their .02 in that, as the myth goes, it’s probably hard to steer.

Glickenhaus, being the internet savvy individual that he is, took the time to correct that myth once and for all and left his own reply in the comments.

According to Glickenhaus,

The steering issue was always myth. Never an issue. The car always was a complete rolling chassis and it steered fine.

Presumably, some purists thought that the Modulo concept should STAY motionless as that was its history. Glickenhaus had some terse words for those purists.

Many purists are horrified that I made her run but as you probably have come to realise I really don’t give a fuck about what others think about what I do.

Glickenhaus goes on to say that this car will make its début under its own power at Pebble Beach later in August.

Earlier last month Glickenhaus announced he’s willing to work to get an American team to win Le Mans.

The more I write about this American renaissance man, the more I’m likening him to another American Maverick who put our country on the map, Carroll Shelby.
