Thrustmaster released one of the coolest pieces of video game hardware I’ve ever laid my eyes on.

Disclaimer. I have zero knowledge of hardware related to simulation video games. Heck, the last video game I played was Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for PS2 (foreal.) But when I saw someone share this announcement from Thrustmaster, I just had to throw some words out there about this slick piece of kit.

You asked; we delivered. The #TSSHandbrake is finally coming to consoles as the TSS Handbrake #Sparco Mod Handbrake (+), giving your #PS4 or #XboxOne #SimRacing rig the highest quality handbrake or sequential snifter on the market.

At first glance, I thought this was just a hydraulic e-brake that you pull to initiate drifts on whatever video game you’re playing, but then I paid closer attention to these cutouts in the handbrake and how it’s attached to the shifter and it’s literally two in one, a handbrake OR a shifter.

At this point, I lost it at how simple yet ingenious it’s engineered. No, you don’t have to unscrew your handbrake and reattach it into a vertical position for shifting, presumably you just slide the handbrake into shifting mode.

In the comments section from their Facebook post, they confirmed that you can get two of these and use one for shifting and the other for initiating drifts with your handbrake. How convenient.

Looking at the prices of what their other products sell for and this Thrustmaster TSS Handbrake will run probably run you about $200, which is reasonable given how well-engineered it is.

Pair two of these bad boys with a steering wheel and pedal set, maybe a decent chair, and you’ve got yourself a bonafide drift setup for console gaming.

Thrustmaster has smartly partnered with Sparco, a proven brand in motorsports, so that’s a bit of smart branding there.

So, if you’re looking to up your video game experience and taking your drift skills to the next level, this Thrustmaster shifter handbrake combo looks like essential equipment if you’re thinking about driving the real thing in the future.
